Alexis

"Three years ago I was at the peak of my addiction to methamphetamine. A case had just been opened up between me and my kids. My husband and I had separated for a bit and he tried to get our daughter. I panicked and dove pretty deep into my addiction. So my child was put into foster care. Looking back, I now see this as a blessing from God to allow me some space to heal. The day they took my child my husband came back to me. We went straight to our church and they mentored us and helped us. We were in life groups and that is where we found our identity in Christ. We weren’t drug addicts anymore. This is when we found who we were supposed to be. Jesus gave me a purpose. I am BIGGER with Jesus. I had no worth before, but knowing and believing that He has a plan for me makes me want to be more and do more. I am quick to surrender and give it to God now-a-days. Before I would just fight everything. I would make it harder for myself. Surrendering to me means faith. Knowing that God has a plan and I don’t have to hold it all anymore. I am just working for Him and living His will. It all just falls into place. I know that I am a server and that I am meant to help others. My addiction wasn’t for nothing. Now I use my knowledge of the dark side to help others. My husband and I have had a few family members live with us. They were ready to make a change. They now have their own houses and they go to church. We would like to eventually open a Sober Living House. For now we are just trusting in God. It is amazing to see the light come on for other people. It is so sad when you see the enemy successfully confusing your loved ones and they are so lost. There is an answer and it is Jesus. "No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. 1 Corinthians 10: 13“ I would tell someone to go church shopping. God will lead them. They will know when it is right. You just have to take the first step. He will show Himself to you. My name is Alexis and I surrender."
