"My dad taught me how to be a crook. My family was involved in organized crime. As I got older, I got deeper into criminal activities. I would get money fast and spend it fast. I usually spent it on drugs and alcohol. One night at a bar I got into a fight and I ended up stabbing the guy. It was for self-defense, but the cops didn’t see it that way. They were out to get me. I went into hiding for two years. More things happened and more time passed and finally I told my wife “I am tired of this. I am gonna turn myself in and get right with God. We need to change.” I got out of prison in May 2006. This has not been a walk in the park. We slipped up a few times back then. I don’t believe that once you are saved you are always saved. I believe we can fall away, “For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,” Hebrews 10:26-31. I began to worry about my salvation and my families salvation. In Ohio, in 2014, I got into a really bad wreck in an ice storm. While I was unconscious, I remember walking in darkness. It was so thick that I could feel it on my face. In the hospital I finally woke up. I was done smoking and drinking. I called my wife and said I was going to go fast and pray and that I was not going to come back until I was right. This happened in March 2015 and since then I have been changed! I say to people “Pray. Ask for truth. The truth will set you free. Trust in Jesus. He can free us from ALL captivities. That includes the mind. Addictions. Temptations of the world. He will reveal the truth.” My life scripture is Lamentations 3: 22-23, “Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.” When I was a little kid, my parents would send me to this church as a ‘babysitter’ but I know that is where the seeds were planted.
